About Dr. Claudia Pinter
-
Even as a small child, I had a special curiosity for medicine. I was fascinated when my father, a doctor himself, could explain to me how certain processes (e.g., wound healing) work in the body.
My passion for helping people later defined my career choice.
Orthodontics held a particular fascination for me, as it represents the interface between medicine, aesthetics, and physics.
-
My dental studies began in Würzburg, Germany, and later led me back to the Medical University of Vienna, where I earned my doctorate. Throughout my entire education, I was fortunate to be guided by exceptionally good teachers, to whom I owe not only my professional foundation but who also helped me fully develop my potential.
-
After my studies, I initially worked as a dentist before deciding to specialize in orthodontics. Along this path, I also had the privilege of learning from experienced orthodontists – especially Dr. Barbara Kitzmantel, who always pursued the highest standards of quality in her practice.
Through a combination of part-time courses and several years of practical experience, I obtained the qualification as a private orthodontist, and with the introduction of the specialist dentist in September 2023, also the official qualification as a specialist dentist for orthodontics.
-
Today, I dedicate myself exclusively to orthodontics, with a focus on treatments using clear aligners to achieve an optimal bite and an attractive smile.
However, as the name orthodontics suggests, that is not all. Beyond correcting misaligned teeth and jaws, an orthodontist also aims for the ideal development, dimension, and position of the jaws.
-
After intensively studying aesthetics and function within the scope of aligner therapy, my interest grew in how I could also promote my patients' general health through orthodontic measures. Thus, I began to focus more on maxillary expansion to improve nasal breathing – an area in which Dr. Stanley Liu's research, in particular, has pioneered.
This treatment can not only improve nasal breathing but often also general well-being, as unobstructed breathing contributes to better sleep and more energy in daily life.
-
The support of my mentors on this journey inspired me to become an educator myself. In addition to my clinical practice, I lead the Fellowship in Aligner Orthodontics, which provides colleagues worldwide with access to advanced training in aligner technology.
A particularly cherished project is my role as 'Visiting Faculty' at Nova Southeastern University, where I have the privilege of mentoring aspiring orthodontists in both teaching and research.
Furthermore, I have the privilege of sharing innovative treatment methods at international conferences, always ensuring I remain at the forefront of scientific advancements.
